Mechanical Design
As a key to program success, FTT involves mechanical designers at every step of a project, leading the engineering team in analysis, product definition, manufacturing, instrumentation, and assembly. Designers at FTT are degreed mechanical and aerospace engineers who work closely with specialists in other engineering disciplines to ensure we achieve optimized, low risk, and low life cycle cost solutions for complex engineering problems.
Product Definition
FTT’s Product Definition Group offers exceptional experience in modelling and drafting of components such as aerofoils, actuation systems, bearings, combustors, compressors, gear boxes, shafts, and transitions. We support FTT’s multi-disciplinary design teams in the successful delivery of advanced technology compressor, combustor, and turbine demonstrators.
Numerical Analysis
FTT offers a wide range of numerical analyses. The Structures Team utilizes in-house developed design tools and best-practice methods along with several commercial programs to ensure the accuracy of our analyses. FTT’s Heat Transfer Team members are experienced turbomachinery specialists who push the boundaries on innovative cooling technologies in an effort to deliver higher cooling effectiveness at minimum cost. Our CFD Experts predict aero performance of the engine, create innovative combustion solutions and use CHT CFD simulations to solve multi-physical field problems.

At FTT, we consider manufacturing suppliers crucial members of our Integrated Product Teams. We maintain an Approved Supplier Database, focusing on Prototype Hardware Manufacturing. We select manufacturing suppliers early in the design process to ensure a low-cost, producible design, and to promote supplier ownership.
